Rainbow Family

I am a working mum in a special needs school. I have a loving husband and two beautiful children. One child has been diagnosed with ASD, anxiety and depression and my other child is a sassy pants!!!
My Inspiration
Since 2021 I have been a big fan of the Happy Place podcast and I found it so inspirational that famous people had a lovely life, but also had struggles and were relatable to everyone and some of the things they struggled with, I was too. The podcasts are so relatable and everyone I have listened to, you take something away and it inspires you. So when I found out in January 2022 that Fearne Cotton was doing her book launch Bigger Than Us, I had to go!!! Fearne Cotton had an amazing guest speaker Jambodragon who took me through my first experience of meditation. Little did I know this played a vital part of me starting to look after myself.
I started an Instagram page in January 2022, originally just to share my life as a mum with a child that has ASD. This page has also took me onto a journey of self care and share other parts of my family life too. Every day I published between two and five posts sharing an honest view of my day to day life. People started following me and before I knew it I had one thousand followers. It was refreshing to see that people related to my life and my thoughts were sometimes what other people were thinking. I started to get people messaging me and leaving comments on my posts. All of a sudden I felt part of a community that were going through the same things that I was going through. Advice was given to me and equally I felt comfortable giving advice. There has never been any judgement, just lots of support.
Self Care
Whilst writing my posts on Instagram and reading other peoples, I noticed that more and more parents were shouting out for some me time. In my day to day life, I could see that I was looking after others, but was resentful sometimes as I had no time for myself. I decided to do a daily Instagram post on self care. I have been doing it for a month and a half and I am beginning to notice how good it is to have time to yourself. Whether it is a two minute sit down in the toilet whilst you catch your breath or an evening away from your day to day life, it is a hundred percent worth that effort. I will continue documenting my journey and look forward to seeing where it will take me.
Meditation
After I started my self care in February I decided to message Jambodragon. He was so helpful and is supporting me on my meditation journey. He checks in with me at least once a week and gives me a boost with his positive feedback and amazing suggestions. It is still early days and I am very much a beginner. On my Instagram page I am documenting my journey everyday, please feel free to take a look.
What now???
From writing my posts on ASD the thought process has also taken me on another journey through self love and care. If this is in place I feel I can feel better about myself and I feel this will benefit the whole family. It is still early days but I cannot wait to tell you about me and my family life, and share my journey with you.
